Cream butter and sugar till fluffy - this is the secret. Beat in eggs one at a time. Dissolve bicarbonate of soda in milk and add alternately with sifted dry ingredients. Mix well. Stir in vanilla and lemon. Spoon into muffin trays. Bake at 180 C for 25 - 30 minutes. \*For a cake, bake at 180 C for an hour and 20 minutes. Makes 24.
