An easy and versatile dough recipe - donuts, cinnamon rolls, koeksisters, hot cross buns, bread rolls (reduce sugar).

Ingredients

1/3 c sugar ½

2 T yeast 3
•
2 c warm milk 3
•
1/3 c oil ½
•
1 t salt 1 ½
•
1 T baking powder 1 ½
•
5 c flour 7 ½
Instructions
Combine sugar through milk. Allow to stand for 30 minutes. Add oil, then add dry ingredients. Mix and knead briefly. Roll out into large rectangle.
Donuts: Cut into rings. Allow to rise for one hour, separated so they to not rise and touch. Fry in hot oil. Glaze or dust donuts and serve.
Cinnamon rolls: Spread with butter, sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts and raisins. Roll up tightly and cut with dental floss into rolls. Rise for one hour on baking tray. Bake at 350° F for 15 - 20 minutes. Glaze with icing sugar, vanilla and milk mixture.
Try adding grated orange rind with cinnamon.
