Also my first introduction to an American dish with Gail, in my first year of marriage - when I had no idea how to cook.

Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 T oil
  • 800g mince
  • 2 tins tomatoes
  • 1 tin tomato puree
  • 2 T chili
  • ½ t vinegar
  • 1 t salt
  • 3 c beans
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf

Extras:

  • Corn bread
  • crackers
  • sour cream
  • grated cheese
  • green onions

Instructions

Sauté garlic and onion in oil.

Brown mince.

Mix all ingredients together in a pot and simmer for an hour. Add water as necessary.

Serve with cornbread or crackers.

Top with green onions, grated cheese, and sour cream.
