Bread Sauce

A must-have with roast chicken!

Ingredients

  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 5-10 peppercorns
  • 2 c milk
  • ΒΌ c butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4-8 slices chopped white bread

Instructions

Heat ingredients from onion through seasoning gently, allowing to stand if possible, for an hour, to soak in the flavors.

Strain all ingredients out of the milk and heat again.

Gradually add bread over low heat, till sauce is thick.

Adjust seasoning.

Serve with roast poultry.
