Blackberry Sauce for venison or pork

An incredibly tangy sauce which complements venison or pork!

Ingredients

  • 6 oz fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c balsamic vinegar
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 2-4 cloves
  • 1-2 star anise (optional)

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a small pot and bring to a boil.

Add a pinch of salt if desired.

Boil for about 5 minutes and then smash the berries against the side of the pan to crush them.

Boil for another 5-10 minutes to thicken.

Strain and serve.
