Apple Slice

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 3 c flour
  • 1 c shortening
  • salt
  • ¾ t baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T vinegar
  • ½ c water

Filling

  • 1 c water
  • 1 ½ c sugar
  • salt
  • ¼ c water
  • 2 T corn starch
  • 6 c sliced apple
  • cinnamon

Glaze

  • 1 c icing sugar
  • water
  • vanilla essence

Instructions

Cut shortening into dry ingredients.

Add wet and mix lightly.

Roll out half into a 30 x 30 pan.

Boil water, sugar and salt of filling. Add corn starch and water, boil for 5 minutes.

Add apple and cinnamon and boil for a further 10 minutes.

Pour over base.

Roll our remaining pastry and cover.

Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes to an hour.

Glaze with icing sugar, water and vanilla glaze.
