Gingerbread House Recipe

overnight and bake for 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5 ½ c flour
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 T cocoa
  • 1 T cinnamon
  • 1 T ginger
  • ½ c butter
  • ¼ c Crisco/shortening
  • 1 ¼ c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ c molasses

Instructions

Prepare dough and place in the fridge overnight. Roll out to 1/8 inch on trays and then cut - don't try to transfer to sheets after cutting large areas. Bake at 350° F for 7 to 10 minutes. Use Royal icing to glue it together and to its base, and for decorating. Note: the dough cooks larger than cut.
