The best fudge recipe I have come across! Tant Johanna had arthritis and could barely hold a spoon. I am guessing she had others do the intense stirring that is needed at the end of this recipe!
Melt margarine and golden syrup in a heavy pan over low heat.
Add condensed milk and milk.
Add sugar and flour and mix well. Stir constantly and carefully till boiling point and then add tartar.
Simmer 25 minutes over low heat, stirring till soft ball stage is reached.
Remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat vigorously till thickening. This is hard work, but worth the effort! The more you beat it, the smoother it will be.
Pour into greased trays. Score and cool.
